In addition to its permanent collections of thousands of designs and just as many colours, Solstiss also offers two annual collections in its attempts to continually offer something new, indicating the strength of a brand that feels duty-bound to create in order to progress.
Solstiss can also provide you with a series of production tools for custom projects, to help bring your ideas to life.
Chantilly, named after the French town, is the most precious and most refined of laces. The complexity of the process by which it is manufactured is rivalled only by the finesse of the patterns it incorporates, which are often floral but can now also be more modern.
A thread known as ‘bourdon’, woven on the loom, is used to edge or fill the pattern to give the lace greater depth and thickness. The pattern adopted can be floral or geometric.
Guipure is a form of mechanical embroidery whereby the pattern is created as a result of hundreds of needles pricking a fabric that will then disintegrate when the piece is finished. Often heavier and thicker than lace, it can feature floral or geometric designs.
The lace is woven with a silver, gold or copper-coloured thread giving it a richer, more sophisticated appearance and can feature floral or geometric, finer or heavier designs.
What if it were possible to make lace even more beautiful? From creative urges and combinations of materials to beading, showers of sequins and the application of silicone, the imagination can run wild, countless ideas spring to life, anything is possible and nothing is too much.
Special commissions have been produced for
architects, decorators and designers, among others, since our lace can be used for a myriad of often magnificent applications.
